About the Artist:

Rod is a landscape painter, in the American Impressionism tradition. For over 25 years he has traveled the Yukon, Washington state and Alaska recording on canvas the intense beauty of the mountains. He attempts to capture not only the physical terrain but also the light and atmosphere surrounding the land he paints.

Rod graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle in 1978 with a Bachelor of Fine Art. He and his wife, Jane, now live in Haines, Alaska. They have three grown children. Rod has had over 30 one man shows and his work has been exhibited throughout the country. He has received numerous awards and was featured in American Artist, and Artist Trust magazines.

"Ever since I was a young boy I have been a student of nature. In fact, I once considered a career with the National Park Service, where I worked for several years. However, In 1973 I saw an exhibition of landscape paintings by Sydney Laurence in Anchorage and I realized that the strong kinship I felt with the natural world could be reinforced by painting"
